In 2010 the ASCC continued with its highly successful Back to Schools program for a second year.

During National Science Week in August, the ASCC sent Victorian stem cell scientists to schools around Victoria to help students understand more about stem cell research. The program was designed to answer questions, debunk myths and stimulate discussion and was originally put together in response to the increasing number of enquiries from students and teachers on matters ranging from ethics to areas of research, career choices and study opportunities.

Following feedback from students in 2009, we redeveloped our presentation acknowledging that students wanted a more interactive experience. With the support of our volunteer speakers, we arranged 25 school visits (2009: 23 school visits) across Melbourne, Woodend, Corryong, Donald and St Arnaud.

In the past two years 2,850 students have participated in the program and learnt the basics of stem cell biology.
