Products

ASCC Research Services has developed a range of products and services that are available to stem cell researchers.

Human Embryonic Stem Cell Lines

MEL-1 and MEL-2 human embryonic stem (hES) cell lines were established and cultured on MEFs (mouse embryonic fibroblasts) in serum containing medium. These lines have been fully characterized by teratoma and marker expression analysis at early and late passages. They have been frozen using the vitrification method in open pulled straws to allow for optimum viability upon thawing. Very early passages (P10>) are available. Customers located outside Australia can obtain these hES cell lines from Millipore Corporation, catalogue numbers SCC020 & SCC021.

MEL-3 and MEL-4 hES cell lines were established on human feeders in serum free medium. These lines have been fully characterized at early and late passages. They have been frozen using the vitrification method in open pulled straws to allow for optimum viability upon thawing. Very early passages (P10>) are available.

Proteins

The ASCC and the Centre for Green Chemistry (Monash University) have an ongoing collaboration for the production of purified recombinant proteins used for stem cell research. The proteins, Wnt-3a and Wnt-5a have been purified from mouse L-cell conditioned medium and are available for purchase from Millipore Corporation (catalogue numbers GF145 & GF146). Wnt proteins have been shown to be key regulators in the growth and differentiation of embryonic and adult stem cells.

Stem Cell Kits

ASCC scientists have developed refined conditions for the isolation and identification of stem cell populations. This expertise has been used to develop the Bone Marrow Harvesting & Haematopoietic Stem Cell Isolation kit (SCR051) which enables the improved isolation of mouse primitive haematopoietic stem cells.  This kit is available for purchase from Millipore Corporation.
