Mr David Collins joined the Australian Stem Cell Centre in June 2007. With a background spanning 15 years in financial management and operational strategy development across highly competitive industry sectors, such as oil, media and satellite communications, Mr Collins brings with him an understanding of the challenges faced by commercial organisations at the forefront of innovation. Educated in the United Kingdom, Mr Collins is a Chartered Accountant with an MBA qualification complemented with an undergraduate degree in Engineering.

Michelle Goldsmith

Director Commercialisation & Legal Services

Michelle looks after operations and intellectual property and licensing at the Australian Stem Cell Centre and has held this position since 2005. Michelle is responsible for all intellectual property issues associated with the ASCC’s projects including negotiation of deals with a broad variety of academic and corporate organizations for acquisition and commercialisation of intellectual property. Michelle holds an Honours degree in law and a science degree from the University of Melbourne. Michelle’s background includes advising on biotechnology policy and intellectual property policy at Commonwealth and State levels.

Professor Melissa Little

Professor Melissa Little
Chief Scientific Officer

Professor Melissa Little is the Chief Scientific Officer of the Australian Stem Cell Centre. She is also Group Leader of the Renal Development and Disease Laboratory at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland and also a Founding Scientist and Director of Nephrogenix Pty Ltd. Her research focuses on the molecular genetics of kidney development and the causes of renal disease, with the aim of developing stem cell technology for use in kidney regeneration.

As recipient of an Eisenhower Fellowship, Melissa has recently returned from the United States where she was investigating barriers to translation of research into clinical outcome, particularly in the area of stem cells and regenerative medicine.

Professor Melissa Little

Sean Meehan
Business Development Director

Sean Meehan joined the ASCC as Business Development Director in August 2007. Previously, Sean worked in the life sciences field for 12 years with Millipore Corporation in numerous roles including Product Development Scientist, Technical Specialist and Product Manager. It was during the latter role that Sean developed an interest in stem cell biology, when he was responsible for the creation and management of a product line for stem cell research. Sean then spent 2 years as Director, Business Development where he was responsible for the commercialisation of a number of technologies. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from Monash University and an MBA from Deakin University.

Dr Graham Hobbs

Graham Hobbs
Human Resources Manager

Graham Hobbs joined the ASCC in November 2007 as the Human Resources Manager. Graham is responsible for tactical and strategic HR implementation as well as staff training and development.  Graham worked for many years with Amcor in Research and Development and Human Resources after beginning his career as a teacher. His background is in science (Ph.D) and he has an MBA majoring in Human Resources and a Dip Ed.
