The Australian Stem Cell Centre is a national organisation that brings together and funds the country's leading stem cell research groups. Our long term focus is develop therapeutic products that functionally replace diseased or damaged tissue and to develop methods to effectively deliver these products. Stem cell research may revolutionise the way in which we develop new medicines for a very large group of patients suffering from a number of serious human diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, cancer and Parkinsons, just to name a few.
The Centre is a registered Australian charity and has recently launched it first major fundraising campaign to help support stem cell research in Australia and, as part of that, we are able to accept donations and bequests.
In Memoriam Envelopes
In Memoriam envelopes are a wonderful way in which family and friends can acknowledge the death of someone special. Each donation will be recognised with a personalised condolence letter to the family informing them of a donation made in memory of their loved one. The donor will receive a thank you note and a tax deductible receipt.
Funeral homes and other interested parties may obtain these envelopes are available directly from the Australian Stem Cell Centre, free of charge. They can be ordered in packages of 50 by phoning 03 9271 1100 or emailing us.
Bequests
There are several different types of bequest that can be made. Please find below the required legal wording for different types of bequests.
General Cash Gift:
"I bequeath to the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd the sum of _______________ dollars ($_____) to be applied for the purposes of medical research in such manner as its directors may determine. I declare that the receipt of the chief executive officer or a director of the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd will be sufficient discharge to my executors who will not be bound to see the application of this bequest."
Bequest of Whole Residue of Estate
I bequeath to the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd all the rest and residue of my Estate to be applied for the purposes of medical research in such a manner as its directors may determine. I declare that the receipt of the chief executive officer or a director of the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd will sufficient discharge to my executors who will not be bound to see the application of this bequest.
Bequest of a Percentage of Residue of Estate
I bequeath to the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd ________% of my Residuary Estate to be applied for the purposes of medical research in such a manner as its directors may determine. I declare that the receipt of the chief executive officer or a director of the Australian Stem Cell Centre Ltd will be sufficient discharge to my executors who will not be bound to see the application of this bequest.
